Cramps in the abdominal area are quite common in many women during their menstrual cycle. Severe cramps on one side of the body could be a sign of ectopic pregnancy wherein the embryo has implanted itself in that side of the fallopian tube instead of the uterus. Especially in an ectopic pregnancy one has to be extra careful when you see an early pregnancy signs of stomach because if the fallopian tube bursts internal bleeding will take place and it can be fatal to the mother. The tube can burst when you are well into your third month too.
